We’re excited to spotlight William Crowhurst, a 2022 Pedrozzi Scholar who recently transferred from Las Positas College to UC Berkeley to continue his studies in physics.
William chose to begin his college journey at LPC for its strong academic reputation, close-knit community, and cost savings. He quickly discovered the value of the community college transfer path, not only in affordability but also in UC Berkeley’s higher acceptance rates for transfer students. “I have no regrets about choosing the transfer path,” he shares. “I think any student in STEM would benefit from starting at a community college before moving on to a large university.”
At LPC, William thrived in the physics program, building close connections with professors and participating in the honors program, where he completed independent projects under faculty mentorship. He also explored his creative side by enrolling in music courses each semester, becoming part of both the physics and music communities.
This summer, William attended a workshop at an observatory, preparing for his transition to UC Berkeley. He encourages students to take advantage of every opportunity, whether through honors projects, workshops, or clubs, and to stay proactive with counselors to navigate the sometimes-confusing transfer process.
Congratulations, William! Your academic achievements, curiosity, and well-rounded approach to learning embody the Pedrozzi spirit, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish at UC Berkeley.
