Roberta Gonzales, KTVU Fox News Meteorologist and owner of Roberta Gonzales Productions, visited Marilyn Avenue STEAM Academy to meet with Pedrozzi Young Scholars.

28 Pedrozzi Young Scholars, from grades five to nine, listened intently as Roberta shared her journey to become a reporter and meteorologist. At 11 years old, Roberta knew she wanted to be a reporter so shared her goal with others. She worked hard in high school in preparation for college after learning that financial aid, scholarships and earnings from working would allow her to pay tuition and living expenses. Even though she faced adversity while in college, she persevered and graduated from San Diego State University. She knew the importance of working hard, even during her first position at a television news station where her responsibilities included landscape maintenance. Following her mother’s advice that, “No matter what you do, be the best at it,” and having curiosity and courage, Roberta quickly worked her way up the TV news ladder, working many years in San Jose, San Francisco, and Chicago.
Along with working hard, Roberta encouraged the Young Scholars to stay healthy and stay connected with people in the community.

Roberta talked about writing her children’s book, “Marina, the Fish with Teal Lips.” She relates the story of the fish with her own childhood growing up in Barstow, California.

The Pedrozzi Young Scholars enjoyed meeting Roberta Gonzales. Her story will inspire the students to work hard to achieve their goals and live a fulfilling life.
