On April 2, 2026, the Annual Pedrozzi Young Scholars Family Social was a great success, with nearly 150 guests in attendance, including 40 Pedrozzi Young Scholars, three PYS alumni, and 115 scholars and family members.

We were also honored to welcome members of the Livermore community, including Mayor John Marchand and Vice Mayor Kristie Wang; LVJUSD Acting Superintendent Michelle Pachette; LVJUSD Director of Assessment and Accountability Matt Hart; and School Board Trustees Christiaan VandenHuevel and Deena Kaplanis. From Marylin Avenue STEAM Academy, we were pleased to have Principal Joe Meunier and 5th grade teachers Jennifer Pennybacker and Heidi Robinson in attendance. Additional guests included STEM Program Coordinator Jean O’Neil-Opipari from Las Positas College, as well as Executive Director Michael Mosby, Board Chair Monya Lane, and board members Glenn Kubiak and Vaughn Draggoo from Quest Science Center.

We also welcomed several members of the Pedrozzi Foundation Board, including President Monica Moya, Sharon Draggoo, Linda Kubiak, and John Williams, along with special Pedrozzi guests Irma and Jorge Rocha, Art and Donna Pontau, Pat and Madeline McMenamin, and former Marylin School Principal Alberto Solorzano.

This year’s event was especially meaningful as we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Pedrozzi Young Scholar Program. Guests enjoyed a special video featuring messages from individuals who have connected with the program over the years, including former Marylin School principals Alberto Solorzano and Denise Nathanson, professional soccer player Olivia Sekany, NBC News journalist Jessica Aguirre, and FOX News meteorologist Roberta Gonzales.

All guests enjoyed a light dinner and participated in games in the Multipurpose Room at Marylin Avenue STEAM Academy. A highlight of the evening was the always-popular PYS Bingo, with winners receiving coffee gift cards.
