After graduating from Granada High School in 2010, Peter Cabeceiras, the first person in his family to attend college, headed to Rice University, in Houston, TX. In May 2016, Peter will graduate with his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. His career goal is to earn a medical degree and a doctorate in cancer biology and then focus on teaching, research and clinical work as a physician scientist at a research hospital. This summer Peter will conduct research at MIT as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute EXROP Scholar.
In April, Peter was selected as a Goldwater Scholar recipient for the 2015-16 academic year. Peter is among 260 college students from across the country chosen for this honor from more than 1,200 nominees based on academic merit.
According to Peter the Pedrozzi Foundation scholarship is “very special because it represents support from my hometown-Livermore.”
