Pedrozzi Young Scholars, 6th to 8th graders, had an exciting opportunity to visit Las Positas College’s campus to meet the Talk Hawks, Las Positas College’s forensics team. The Pedrozzi Young Scholars enjoyed their interactions with the college students and they learned a lot! They learned speech and debate tips, and they even got to participate in a debate about whether pancakes or waffles are better. Students were split up into groups of two and had 90 seconds to debate their side, then they heard rebuttals. This was a fun way to introduce the students to the world of public speaking and debate!

The event had many fun ice breakers and activities for the students including a discussion about whether students would prefer having finger-length legs or leg-length fingers. Most importantly, the students learned that speech and debate skills are beneficial in all lines of work.

The Pedrozzi Young Scholars took the Wheels bus for the outing showing them that Las Positas’ campus is easily accessible from anywhere in the Tri-Valley. For many of the Young Scholars this was the first visit to a college campus.

Thank you for the fun and exciting opportunity, Talk Hawks!
