The eighth-grade cohort of the Pedrozzi Young Scholars Program took a field trip to Las Positas College (LPC). During this 1.5 hour tour given by Miguel Alvarez, LPC Outreach Coordinator, the Scholars were able to see what life is like on the LPC campus. The Scholars enjoyed seeing classrooms. They caught a glimpse of a lecture hall. The Scholars saw various labs along with the library. The Scholars were told about the various student resource offices on campus, such as the Financial Aid office and the CARE office. It was exciting for the Scholars to check out all of the athletics areas. They enjoyed seeing a few minutes of a basketball game that was happening on campus during their tour. Miguel shared that people with at least an AA or AS degree earn twice as much in their lifetime than people who stop their education with a high school degree. It was a great opportunity for the 8th grade Pedrozzi Young Scholars to become familiar with a college campus.
