The PSAT Initiative, a partnership between the Pedrozzi Foundation and the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, is contributing to more students enrolling in college level, Advanced Placement (AP) courses while in high school. Due to the initiative, all 10th grade students in the LVJUSD take the Practice Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) which allows district staff to identify students who would otherwise not be identified for higher level courses.
Expanding rigorous course offerings for all students, including those traditionally under-represented, has been a major effort on the part of school district and its high schools which helps close the achievement gap. LVJUSD was recently honored by the College Board with placement on the 6th Annual AP District Honor Roll for its significant gains in student access to and success in these AP courses (read press release). The Foundation is proud to be one of the district’s partners in reaching its goal to identify all motivated and academically prepared students who are ready for advanced college prep course work.
