Finding your interests and a path that supports them is essential to a college experience. Molly Cooper, a 2013 Scholar, attends University of Oregon and is studying Communication Sciences and Disorders and shares her experiences:
I have become involved with the international student population at my school. Last year, I spent many hours as a conversational partner which allowed students learning English as a second language an opportunity to practice conversational English. Next year I will continue to volunteer as well as act as a peer mentor for incoming freshman.
I want to be the person helping another person overcome an obstacle they face. My post-graduation aspirations are to find a graduate program in audiology and then pursue a career related to the field.
I have tried to expose myself to many situations involving working with people with different abilities because I want to make sure working in the medical professions is right for me. This includes volunteering for the American Cancer Society (as an office intern), volunteering as a conversational partner, and participating in Best Buddies.
I hope to continue to look for job opportunities and experiences that will allow me grow and to make the most informed choices about my future.
Thank you so much to Pedrozzi donors for helping my career aspirations come true!
