We are proud to highlight Kaylan Carter, a 2025 Pedrozzi Scholar who recently started her second year at Las Positas College this fall. Kaylan is working towards her Associates Degree in Science for Transfer, and her program focuses on biology. Her interests go beyond STEM, though, and her love of art has inspired her interest in psychology and art history classes. She has gotten involved in the LPC community by joining the archery club, and she volunteers with her church’s Sunday services and childcare programs.
Kaylan shares:
“I have particularly enjoyed my Psychology and Art History classes, since I haven’t been exposed to those subjects in-depth in the past. Art is a well-loved hobby of mine, so I was very excited to learn about different cultures’ art history; I loved learning about how powerful art is in creating historical narratives and maintaining cohesiveness in societies, as well as transcending time to relate to people in our modern age. I enjoyed it so much that I signed up for a summer art history class to learn more!”
As a recipient of the Barry Taylor Scholarship, Kaylan expresses her gratitude to the Taylor family and the Pedrozzi Foundation for helping to make this next chapter possible.
Congratulations, Kaylan! We wish you all the best at Las Positas College.
