Introducing the CONNECT Youth Program — a collaborative initiative between the Rotary Club of Livermore and the Pedrozzi Foundation.

The Pedrozzi Foundation already supports students at Junction Avenue K-8 through the Pedrozzi Young Scholars (PYS) program, while the Rotary Club of Livermore supports students through the READY Program. To expand support for students in both programs, the CONNECT Youth Program was created.

During the first CONNECT Youth Program session, 28 students participated, including 23 PYS and 5 READY Program students. The theme for the event was Mindful Minds. Students took part in two sessions: one outdoor activity where they shared their feelings and reflected on the importance of emotional awareness, and a Mindful Movements class led by retired teacher and current yoga instructor, Dawn Matthews. The students also practiced breathing techniques using bubble-blowing exercises.

The next CONNECT Youth Program session is scheduled for December 11, with attendance expected to increase as interest in the program grows.

The CONNECT Youth Program is a wonderful example of how collaboration between nonprofit organizations can amplify their collective impact and create greater opportunities for students.
